Meritorious Conduct Awards 2008

On Dec 17th 2008, two Raleigh County Deputies became the first to be awarded the Order of Meritorious Conduct. The two deputies, Ray Hall and John Grose were presented awards by Sheriff D.W. "Danny" Moore and Chief Steve Tanner.

On July 17, 2008 Ray Hall showed his exceptional dedication with the follow-up of the most minute details of a child abuse case resulting in the arrest of an abusive parent. Furthermore, he stopped the suffering of abuse to a 4 year old child, protected an entire family, and gave the children involved a new chance at a normal life.

On April 26th, 2008 John Grose went to MacArthur on a routine call, when he encountered a mental patient. This mental patient ran into a house and set that house on fire. Deputy Grose had the fire department dispatched and without any regard to his own safety, ran into the burning home to rescue the mental patient and anyone else inside. Even though the mental patient received burns on over 50% of his body, he was saved by Deputy Groses' heroic actions.

These actions set the highest standards for the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.
